Cuban Cuisine

Menu Item: Bread
(Appetizer-included)
Presentation: ⭐⭐
Flavor: 4/10
Comments: It wasn’t served warm, and the piece was a bit large to enjoy before dinner. I also wished it had been a little softer.
Menu Item: Croquetas de Jamón
Price: $10
Presentation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Flavor: 10/10
Comments: The photo does not do this plate justice! It arrived with a much larger portion, and between all of us enjoying it, it vanished in no time. The perfect croqueta: incredibly crispy, warm, and packed with genuine ham flavor. Authentic and absolutely perfect!

Menu Item: Salmon (Aurora)
Price: $34
Presentation: ⭐⭐⭐
Flavor: 10/10
Comments: Delicious, and the portion was great without being overwhelming! The salmon was a generous size and perfectly cooked, crispy on the edges and moist inside, and topped with the most perfect parsley-garlic topping and a mild kick of spice. The yellow rice was the best I’ve ever had, with a subtle tang like a vinaigrette. Even the greens were good! Satisfied is an understatement.
Menu Item: Complementary Mint
Presentation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Flavor: 9/10
Comments: A minty, chocolatey sweet waiting by the door as we left, and such a lovely way to end dinner.

We kept hearing about this place from taxi drivers and others in the area, and now I understand why. The Spanish colonial architecture is stunning, with paintings of Christopher Columbus reaching America outside, and dining inside feels like stepping back in time. The restaurant has been around since 1905, founded by a Cuban immigrant, and it was amazing to see that after all these years, the food hasn’t lost its magnificent taste. Parking was easy, and even on a Friday night we had no trouble getting a table on the second floor. It was a special place to visit as a Cuban, and I can’t wait to come back!
